Chronic neck pain really sucks!
I was working with a client recently who was suffering with neck pain and when we were able to help her feel better – she couldn’t believe she waited so long to get help.
But she realized how much it affected her mood at work once she got rid of the neck pain. Imagine if you were constantly feeling tight and achy….it doesn’t allow you to be patient with the people you work with, your kids, your family…because you constantly hurt.
Part of the reason was because the pain wasn’t so bad….it just lingered and that’s how it became chronic in nature.
If you find yourself stretching and stretching your neck, trying to crack it for relief, and changing everything under the sun, AND it still hurts….
Keep reading. I’m sharing only today my secret to getting rid of neck pain.
Are you ready?
I don’t stretch the neck. I start with the lower back.
YES…you heard me right. I DO NOT mess with the neck when it’s really painful….I start with the lower back.
My favorite move is called “standing back extension”. Stand with your feet hip wide, hands on your lower back, and move your upper body back into extension. Go as far as you can without falling over and without pain.
There is an order in which to strengthen and there’s an order in which to work the joints to get rid of pain and restore full pain free motion.
We often have to work on several movements and see which ones work best for YOU since each person we work with has variations to their pain.
But my secret to getting rid of neck pain is to first start out somewhere else.
See the neck…which is made up of the cervical spine, sits on top of the thoracic spine, which sits on top of the lower lumbar spine.
Most people tell me they DO NOT have lower back pain when I ask if I may test out there because they don’t understand why I would start there – this is what I tell them.
See the neck…which is made up of the cervical spine, sits on top of the thoracic spine, which sits on top of the lower lumbar spine.

But they do have a history of some form or fashion.
I’ve never once had someone tell me no….but that’s because they all want me to get to the root cause and help get rid of their neck pain faster…easier…and teach them what to do so that they can help themselves if they have another episode.
After we can reduce the neck pain, then I will go back to the neck and help restore full motion.
There’s an order in which to get the best results faster….and yes, I do work on the neck and often help my clients progress towards strengthening.
If you want to get to the root cause of neck pain, get rid of it for good, and keep lasting results – it’s key to work on in the right order.
